Oren Buchanan Haker

Oren is a partner at Black Helterline LLP who advises all sides of a distressed situation, including corporate borrowers, ownership and captive investors, lenders, and buyers of distressed assets. On the borrower side, Oren provides liability management representation in connection with in-court proceedings and out-of-court processes. On the buy side, his experience includes representing purchasers of assets out of receivership and chapter 11 proceedings.

Over the past 23 years, Oren has worked in a number of sectors including agribusiness, commercial real estate, hotel and hospitality, media, manufacturing, investment advisory and asset management, public utilities, and higher education.

• Represents developer of distressed hospitality assets in out-of-court restructuring of investments with $700 million of liabilities.
• Counsels purchaser of ranch and farmland assets out of chapter 11 proceedings with more than $500 million of liabilities.
• Guides agricultural lender with $30 million of distressed loans to distressed nursery operations in federal receivership.
• Represents alternative investment firm and hedge fund manager in connection with $300 million of liabilities.
• Advises private university in wind-down and ongoing litigation with joint venture partner.
