A significant portion of Black Helterline’s practice is litigation. The firm has represented clients in litigation on matters in the banking, heavy equipment, real estate development, construction, manufacturing and computer industries. Its litigators have handled matters regarding business disputes, securities, antitrust, condemnation, minority and majority shareholder disputes, business torts (such as intentional interference with contractual relations), trademarks and service marks, environmental disputes, buy and sell agreements, contract and lease litigation, personal injury, insurance defense and employment and discrimination disputes.
The philosophy of the litigation group is to avoid litigation if possible. If not, it is the firm’s philosophy to aggressively pursue victory in any litigated matter. The firm has attorneys admitted to practice before all courts and all agencies in Oregon, Washington and Alaska. Through associated counsel, the litigators in the firm have appeared in federal court in a variety of jurisdictions as well as state courts in California, Montana, Idaho, Arizona, New York and Utah.
