Margie focuses her practice on litigation and dispute resolution, with a special emphasis on real estate and business disputes.
Margie is admitted to practice before all state and federal courts in Oregon and Washington, and has tried cases in both states. She is also admitted to practice before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. Margie represents corporate, business and individual clients in all phases of disputes, including mediations, arbitrations, judge and jury trials, and contested case hearings. Margie has prosecuted and defended against cases in areas as varied as construction, land use, real estate, and environmental law, insurance coverage disputes, breach of contract and collection matters, trust, estate, and probate law, personal injury and tort cases, and appellate work.
CONSTRUCTION, REAL ESTATE, AND LAND USE
Margie represents individuals, homeowners, homeowner associations, developers, builders and businesses involved in land use and real estate related disputes, including plan and zone change matters, land use approvals, easement and boundary disputes, timber trespass disputes, homeowner and neighborhood association disputes, construction defect and environmental litigation before the local government, state and federal courts, Construction Contractors Board, and Land Use Board of Appeals.
Margie co-authored two chapters in two different Oregon State Bar legal publications: “Settlement and Compromise” in OREGON CIVIL PLEADING AND PRACTICE (2012 edition) and “Contested Cases: Preparation and Strategy” in OREGON ADMINISTRATIVE LAW (2010 edition). Prior to joining the firm, Margie clerked for the Honorable Cynthia D. Carlson in the Lane County Circuit Court in Eugene, Oregon. Margie is a member of the Royal Rosarians, the Official Greeters and Ambassadors of Goodwill for the City of Portland. Margie is also a member of the Oregon Women Lawyers Association, the Gus J. Solomon Inn of Court, and one of the founders of the fundraising board for the University of Oregon School of Law’s Loan Repayment Assistance Program.
